Changing the world - One string at at time!
ReStrung™ Jewelry was founded in 2011 by artist Naomi Celestin. It's a fusion of her biggest passions - art, music and giving back to the community.
Here's how ReStrung™ came to be: Born and raised in a musical family in the cultural hotbed of New Orleans, ReStrung founder Naomi Celestin's entire world has been shaped by music and art. Over a decade ago, she spotted some old guitar strings laying about her uncle's house. She had been making jewelry as a hobby since childhood, and she thought she might be able to do something creative with the metal strings. She worked with those strings and incorporated them into her signature wirework and then posted her first three pair of earrings on ETSY to test the waters - and they sold the same day! Figuring she was onto something good - she went into production, creating herfirst seriesof designs.
Realizing that musicians break or change strings often, she began asking all the musicians she knew to save their old strings. Having family and music connections in both her hometown of New Orleans and throughout the U.S. and Europe - Celestin was fortunate to have a network of supporters who have given ReStrung a never-ending supply of material to work with!
Once the idea got started, it quickly went from a hobby project to a full-time business, now supporting a team of a dozen talented women. ReStrung is still made by hand from start to finish. Our goal has always been to use music and art to help support worthy causes for artists in Louisiana. To that end, we donate 5% of our profits to The New Orleans Musicians Clinic and The Roots of Music. ReStrung is available here, on our ETSY STORE, as well as over 3500 retail locations worldwide. We thank all our fans for your support and love - we couldn't do this without you!!!
